Resources to Support
The Performance Talk Chapters
The book, Performance Talk: The One-on-One Part of Leadership, consists of two parts. The first two thirds of the book tell the story of a fictional character, Karen, who is newly promoted to a supervisory role.
Reading the story is an almost effortless way to learn about how to deal with people who work for you and how to talk to them about their performance. But it's not enough.
That's why every story chapter has a companion "Resources and Reminders" chapter. The reminders are a list of key things to remember from the story.
The resources are a list of resources relevant to what you learn from the story chapter. They will help you drive home key points and go beyond what the book teaches.
Resource lists are highly perishable. New, helpful books are published while other books go out of print or become less useful. New, helpful web sources are developed while other web links decay and sites disappear.
That's why we decided to keep the most current versions of the resource lists for Performance Talk here, on the web where the lists can be updated and added to as needed.
Here's a list of the chapters with links to the resource list for each one.
Performance Talk is a Three Star Leadership product, designed to help you develop leadership skills that get a star rating from your boss, your peers and your subordinates. There's another leadership resource list on the Three Star leadership site that is sorted by topic.
